How to update content and assess the effect of changes

Update a page when facts change or a specific gap is found. Record the baseline, make a limited edit, check the live version and repeat a comparable measurement. A difference between answers alone does not prove the effect of one edit.

When content genuinely needs an update

A reason to update may be a changed price, available feature, instruction, source or verified error. Another reason is a customer question the content does not adequately explain. Record the goal: exactly what will become clearer and how it can be verified.

Google recommends accurate publication and update dates. Do not assign a new date to create an appearance of freshness if the content is unchanged. A short note on a substantial edit is more useful to author and reader: which method changed, which data was updated and which period the conclusion covers.

Preserve the original version

Before making a change, record the URL, key facts and existing check results. If AI answers exist, save the questions, modes and sources. After publication, confirm that the correct version is live rather than an old cache or another address. Then send an appropriate notification about the real change.

For example, a guide’s website verification method is corrected. First check that a user can complete the new step. Only then assess whether the article appears among sources more often. Even if a link appears, it cannot confidently be attributed to that single edit: search data or generation conditions may have changed.

Plan checks without promising a deadline

Google states that recrawling can take from a few days to a few weeks and that a request does not guarantee inclusion. Resubmitting the same address does not automatically accelerate the process. This describes a search process, not a schedule of guaranteed AI citations.

Choose a sensible interval for your task and available limits. If a check is still running, read its status rather than creating a duplicate. For AI measurements, keep the same questions and conditions; use a few additional formulations to check whether the content has been tailored to just one example.

Work history in AURA GEO

AURA stores revisions of managed publications, agent actions and saved answers. You can connect an authorized change to subsequent checks and see what still needs the owner’s participation. Rollback applies only where supported history and permissions exist.

Auri helps assemble the next task brief, while regular queries to third-party AI services remain the work of your external agent. The month’s outcome is a list of completed tasks and observed results, not a new percentage with no explanation of where it came from.

Conditions and limitations
  • One answer does not establish causality.
  • AURA background checks are not equivalent to automatic requests to every AI chat.
