A link needs context
A domain list without questions has little value. The same platform may be cited as instructions, a reference, news or a critical review. Save the question, full answer and specific URL rather than just the website name. Then establish which fact or decision stage the source supports. This distinguishes a useful content example from an incidental link and avoids turning every citation into a mandatory business-listing destination.
Two different forms of competitor evidence
First case: a source URL is on the competitor's own domain. You can then establish that this particular domain was cited. Second case: the answer mentions the competitor and uses a third-party review. This proves only that those elements occur together in the answer. Until the review has been read, you cannot claim it lists the competitor, omits your product or offers an opportunity for a link. That is a separate verification task, not an established conclusion about the platform.
How an AURA GEO suggestion works
Source-gap recommendations connect a saved observation, question, engine, mode, date, source and specific competitor evidence. They use a limited recent sample, so the absence of a task does not mean there are no gaps. The suggestion distinguishes a direct competitor link from a source worth investigating. Its purpose is to give an agent a verifiable starting point. No automatically generated item confirms that an external editorial team will agree to publish content or recommend the company.
Choose the smallest useful action
If the answer lacks a setup explanation, improve your instructions. If verified terms are missing from the site, obtain them from the owner first. If an external platform would be useful, read its rules and prepare substantive content for its audience. Publication and messaging require separate authorization; a source list does not grant permission to act in someone else's account. Mass spam, fabricated reviews and promises of reciprocal links do not replace work on information.
Verify completion by its result
Record the original question, what changed, the published-content link and a repeat-check criterion in the task. Do not mark the outcome ‘AI already recommends us’ if there is only a draft or submitted URL. In AURA you can open the page workspace and action log, then save a new answer separately. A source thus becomes a clear sequence: read it, confirm a gap, make an improvement, repeat the question and observe a specific result.
